‘Trying Not To Kill Each Other’ is “The Shining, but rom-com.” It's a satire on modern-day dating and relationships, and focuses on a young couple who are stranded at a resort in the North Yorkshire Moors.
After Covid lockdown restrictions and Ruby's strict parents prevented Ricky and Ruby's relationship from developing, the pair have spent the last three years restricted to video calls. That is until the couple book a cabin at a remote resort in the build-up to Ruby's final year of university. With the two of them finally getting time to themselves, some normality seems to be returning to their relationship. Except Ricky's anxiety over organising the "perfect" getaway causes him to overthink about all the things he's missed out on over the last 3 years and over analyse Ruby's personality, leading him to question if he actually knows her at all.
